19. Face of Thanksgiving

Face of Thanksgiving

Wandering Pilgrims join in silence and look heavenward Seeking solace from winter's blast, Giving thanks for blessings received and prayers answered Searching for answers to lingering questions, Peace from threatening storms, And safety from ominous clouds. Voices rise in humility to reach beyond the water's edge To soar skyward on wings of gentle birds. Hands clasp together in grateful thanks, humble praise And, in the dark, a beacon reaches out to illumine a steady rock A symbol of perseverance and constant hope; And we see forever the face of Freedom In bowed heads of Thanksgiving.
